I've tested that clip here and was asked to install the "bad" codecs
which I did, and then restarted Totem and it played back ok.
That video clip appears a bit strange, in that it's h264 video and mp4
aac audio inside an MPEG2 TS.
Do you have Nvidia graphics hardware?

Installing ubuntu to sde, it gets the whole drive. Bootloader target was
a M.2 SSD (PCI-E one, not a SATA one). Secure boot was enabled, and I
chose the option to disable it to allow proprietary NVIDIA drivers.
Fedora 26 with same partitioning had no problems, aside from I wa
I get this issue in 18.04, EFI mode in BIOS and as the mechanism used to
boot the live USB. Received no warnings or errors until the installer
crash.
Tried multiple different destinations for the bootloader, all give this

I left the machine idle for a few days, when I came back to it today I
tried to drag a icon around on the dock. The first time it seemed to
work fine, then I stopped being able to drop the icon and had to hit
escape. The I stopped being able to drop the icon at all.
