(1) wget has always worked for me. I'm setting it to unconfirmed until someone
else can reproduce the problem.
(2) Try upgrading wget; the latest version in Ubuntu Lucid is 1.12-1.1ubuntu2.1
(3) Do you have a firewall set up? It might be blocking requests from
un-privileged users.

According to Wikipedia, "The number of root directory entries available
is determined when the volume is formatted", so perhaps the manufacturer
formatted the card with only 256 entries.
If this is the case, it's not a bug in Ubuntu. If reformatting doesn't

Apparently many people consider Baidu insanely evil. Considering the
amount of loathing generated by Bug #578281 (which merely added Baidu as
an option), I suggest this be "won't-fix"ed in ubufox too.
