[Steps to reproduce]
1.Install 24.04
2.Click Settings -> Multitasking -> General, close Active Screen Edges
3.Drag windows against screen edges, check the size of w
If I disabled the titling-assistant, then this issue is gone.
$ gnome-extensions disable titling-assist...@ubuntu.com
Should the titling-assistant carry on this setting from gnome-shell?

Good news! That worked (below), backlight is behaving normally now.
Specifically what worked was disabling secure boot, some digging pointed
to that being a problem for loading nvidia drivers at times.
Looking at the `XorgLog.txt` I missed what presumably tipped you off?

After starting Gnome boxes (in german Ubuntu the program is called Boxen, this
is not a good Translation i think) on my ubuntu 22.04 machine the virtual
machine with Ubuntu 24.04 starts up fine.
I can switch to full screen or can run it in windowed mode.
