Xenial reached EOSS (End of Standard Support) so I'm afraid it can't be
fixed. It is unfortunate that we were unable to resolve this defect,

I was able to reproduce it in sbuild locally.
But reproducing it from upstream git did not work well.
Neither with libgmock-dev from the package

There is some test delta, but for boost and I'd not see an immediate
conenction to our FTBFS fails we see.
But what I was able to confirm was that setting it back to use gcc-10 for now
works.

fault definitely shouldn't happen, there isn't really enough information
here for a developer to confirm this is a bug in Ubuntu and not some
other kind of system corruption, especially given that there are no
other reports of sim

For some unrelated reasons I had to reboot my system a couple of times today
and now the problem seems gone.
This is a little weird, because I rebooted several times before, but the
problem kept appearing.

I'm happy to hear that you've got the defective drives replaced. The
other two issues you mentioned do not seems related to the smartmontools
package, so I'm marking this bug report as Invalid, as it wasn't a bug
in the first place. I suggest you to file separate bugs against the
relevant KDE packa
@sagigrim - CONFIG_NVME_TCP is already set in all of the kernel configs
mentioned above. Have you installed linux-modules-extra-aws ?
