Problem solved:
Booting the Ubuntu system the timedate service didn't work (bug?). The
date was one year behind. Therefore some certificates failed and thus
some connections to repositories.
I changed timedate to ntp and all works fine!

fwupd updates in groovy.
What has changed/fixed? Which plugins/machines/skus are affected?

golang-github-docker-go-connections FTBFS at the moment in Focal and
Groovy because of an issue with one certificate used in the tests.
Likely this certificate needs to be regenerated.
