Comment #8 made me think about why this works in our functional test, so
I went to investigate that. In our functional test we use Bionic images,
and sure enough the netplan.yaml [9] written there does _NOT_ include
the MTU! The OpenStack Metadata source remains the same [10].

Generally speaking, the "USB soundcard" is the last fallback of an
experienced Linux user if you are unhappy what is in your laptop. Be it the
Bluetooth software stack or the fighting with crappy driver support for the
physical sound card hardware.

This is critical as it corrupts the system configuration data, and more

I've received a brand new Lenovo T14 Gen 1 (Intel), that suffers of some
incompatibilities with Ubuntu.
The internal mic is not detected (only analog input is displayed). And
when a headset is plug, only the output works.

Yes, I am booting off of an external SSD connected through USB 3.1 port
with windows on the internal SSD. Rebooting directly from Windows 10 to
5.8.0-22 kernel has no effect on changing brightness.

Groovy does not use libffi7, it uses libffi8.
Focal has libffi7 still.
Ideally you should install libffi-dev package and rebuild your pyenv
installed packages against matching ABI for your host, as the module you
are installing has extensions with binary dependencies, and is not pure
python.
