I am trying to install Linux Mint 19 on my Asus X550LD which currently
has Bionic Beaver Installed on it.
However every time I boot into the live session and double click on the
install option the Ubiquity application starts and then crashes within

I could hot-fix this problem by changing network configuration via nm-
connection-editor. In my case the "Connection priority for auto-
activation" was set to -999 for one Ethernet configuration. After
changing it to 0 and reconnect, the icons re-appeared. So it is maybe an
issue of malformed/weird

I just rebuilt a kernel with the patch I used back then, but can’t get
the external monitor to work with that either :-/.
I think at this point I’ll just wait for Ubuntu 18 to be available and
hope that the newer drivers will fix the issue.

I have exactly the same issue (I'm even getting the same usb bus/device
