As far as I know, the mounting is handled by systemd. To avoid other
errors and problems, systemd aborts the booting process when a partition
is missing.
In my opinion, this is not a bug, but the expected behaviour.

10 seconds.

After recent update of Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS and specifically updating
"library for wireless and mobile dialogs" VPN connection greyed out. I
use Clonezilla for backing up entire partition of Ubuntu and this update
exactly causes VPN connection problem after update (checked by re

Here is what I've done:
- Installed the 4.10 mainline kernel.
- Completelly removed any nvidia-related packages, removed the graphic-drivers
ppa.
- Rebooted, installed the nvidia 367 driver.
- Rebooted.
At this point, the bug is different. The deskop loads regardless of what
I select using `prime

the problem is from gdm 3.23.91. Do you want to try to install gdm3
3.23.4-0ubuntu1 as a workaround?

Very sorry for the noise. I've tried something else:
- Still runing the 4.10 mainline kernel.
- Added the graphics driver PPA back, installed the latest 378 nvidia drivers.
- Now the exact same symptoms show, black screen if `prime-select nvidia` is
issued. No problem if `prime-select intel` is i
Even though I didn't do anything and it fixed itself, But I can confirm
that I have a dual monitor setup. a qHD display that my Intel CPU cant
support by default at max resolution and I have to use xrandr to add
custom resolution on X initiation.
