fine for me (plain and low latency; tested multiple times by now).

So that let me thinking about the graphic drivers needing some tweaks to
support such hardware with the 3.24 gnome installation: maybe ubuntu-
drivers-common , and also 'nouveau' and the nvidia-xxx ones.

In some occasions it can need to go before cloud-init.
That happen recently to fix a bug for RAX:

in turn needed to go before ANYTHING expected the network to be

I had a look at the proposed pkg and it does not include the d/p/fix-
dashboard-change-network-name-policy.patch. It has been accepted in
upstream stable/mitaka but I guess it did not make it into the 9.1.1
stable release.
Added a updated patch to this bugreport which can be included directly
with

I built a local mutter v2.23.91 package with a reverse patch of that
commit. All is well. I really don't understand though the

Second Dominik's post as not fixed. The hidden files are showing in
Nautilus on 16.04 by default and when changed back do not stay like
that.
My thanks to him, his suggested fix via Firefox Save dialog worked for
me - I have tried many of the older suggestions - including resetting
nautilus prefer
