This is the normal (yet unexplained AFAIK) behavior of many compression
tools like gzip, bzip2 and xz, to refuse to compress a file with a link
count > 1, unless you give the --force option. The actual questions here
are "why do my NTFS files have a link count of 2?" (see
COMP6366_V01_02_15_2011.wm

I have two different HP Notebooks where the suspend does not work on
closing the lid.
HP 635: Does not suspend but wakes up properly when open the lid.
HP 350 G1: Also does not suspend but wakes up properly when open the lid.
However, my Acer AO756 is not affected by the issue.

I'm using a Canon Lide 60 scanner in combination with Simple Scan 3.20.0 on
Xubuntu 16.04 .
Appearently someone mixed up the direction of the sliders, i.e. if you want to
scan darker you now have to move the slider towards "brighter". Same with
"contrast" and possibly "quality".

I agree, launchpad works quite well for us. There's not really much
pressure to move away, currently. Also, I feel, as long as Onboard is
installed by default in Ubuntu, we should stay close. The situation may
change with unity 8, we'll see.
