The good news is that I still have the disk with the Ubuntu 16.04
install where I did my original testing, so I plugged it in and booted

The C++ style includes were "lost" because macros are now being used for
namespaces which the automated parser doesn't understand. Hence
reverting that particular bit restores the aliases.
