The difference is explained by the different toolkits, yes. The reason
why the dash (and everything else) is slower is very likely because we
still haven't landed the Qt pixel-independence branches which causes Qt
to calculate the max flickVerlocy based on high density pixel ratio of
mako, instead
In restoring working cross-compile support (bug 1523801) on the affected
host I can reproduce something like fast builds again --
Cross compiling is still fast (30 seconds to link mir_unit_tests.bin)
but the default native gcc/ld for xenial takes over 3 minutes.

TextField/Area has that visual, so it needs to be updated. Eventually
the animation should be the same.

I am experiencing this one one 14.04 using a fully encrypted LVM file
system. updatedb.mlocate hogs up nearly all of the CPU power making the
system feel very sluggish.

I installed phonon4qt5-backend-gstreamer on my wily machine, and it did
not seem to fix the issue. I need to double check, but it might be
missing the KDE package that provides the sound files as well.
