I did a fresh install of 12.04 a couple of moth ago. Everything worked
fine. I did the usual update via update-manager 2 days or so ago, were
xorg packages were updated. Now when I do _anything_ xorg consumes
between 40% and 60% CPU and the whole system is very slow and laggy.
That's interesting. There seems to be no problems with current
packages. Do you have any third party repositories enabled in your
system? There might be a package from a PPA missing some of its
dependencies and Update Manager refuses to update the package causing
the entire upgrade to fail.

Since the installation of Ubuntu 12.04 apport-kde reports no bugs
anymore. I get notifications about crashed applications and am asked
whether I want to send a bugreport (a checkbox next to the
cancel/restart buttons). But when I check that box and continue, nothing
happens.
Apparently I reported this problem already a few months ago, but no one
cared.
The segfault in chromium I reported there does not happen anymore (as I
do not use chromium anymore).
