I have been able to reproduce and find the cause of this bug. The bug
is triggered when the file ".config/user-dirs.dirs" is not present.
Simply move that file away and you'll be able to reproduce this.
Running xdg-user-dirs-update might or might not fix the problem, some
variables might not
I'm attaching a userdirs.dirs file. Users affected by this bug can
"fix" it by putting this file in their .config folder.

I believe that the necessary cdimage/debian-cd/seed changes are now
backported and deployed. I'm smoke-testing the initial batch of images
now and it wouldn't surprise me to find the odd bug (I know that the
images are currently larger than intended, for instance), but I'll fix
those as I run into
I was able to load a blank hard drive successfully in this same system
with XUbuntu 12.04.1 x64 edition. I did not have to partition the drive
with Ubuntu 9.04 like I had to when loading 10.04 LTS.
I suppose it to be a bug in the specified editions of Linux around the
time of release of 10.04 LTS.

Same printer, same problem. I can't print anything, and the printer
hangs every time I try to print something. Very dissapointing, because
it's a shared printer.
