I have seen this a couple of times myself, most recently with 12.04 LTS.
In my case, there was a /etc/cups/printers.conf.O left behind that had
the old configuration. I stopped cups, copied it to
/etc/cups/printers.conf and then started cups and it all worked again.

And that dark colors are not that wide spread.
My recommendation is to add desired dark colors to the adwaite / gnome-
standard themes in the ubuntu package.

When I log in for the first time, regular patterns are displayed before the
desktop is displayed. If I log in again after a restart, I briefly get a
corrupted screen with fragments of applications of the previous session. Using
Ubuntu 12.10 with nvidia-current.

For some reason, winegcc is included in the wine1.4 package instead of
in a more sane development package.
Anyway, wine1.4 does not depend on the requisite gcc-4.5 which seems to
be required by winegcc, which is an included binary. This binary thus
fails to run after install
The original md5 error reported in this thread I have just seen again
with 7.0.34. The error sems to be associated with tests for the amount
of disk space. I could well assume some concurrency issue to play a role
since both the original reporter and me seem to be running many cores in
parallel - 1

I now have 12.04.1 installed to a HDD rather than running from ISO. That
appears to be the source of the earlier problems with apport.

I fixed this error by typing the following command into a terminal:
sudo rm /var/lib/apt/lists/* -vf
sudo apt-get update

I was planning today to run the tests you suggested, but I did not,
because my printer is now working properly again.
As you know last big round of updates included a new version of CUPS
and apparently that fixed the problem.
If the difficulty returns I will follow your instructions and p
I don't use plymouth and have no plans to use it. Please make sure the
non-plymouth fallback works for cryptdisk_start.
