There used to be a bullet-proof way of reproducing the problem, and that

I have seen that you are the original maintainer of the dfsg package.
CaRMetal is not able to start on Ubuntu12.10 one cause for this may be
that Java7u3 is default on this platform.
In respect that this is a unchanged package importet from Debian this
issue may be also relevant to Debia
Bricking a laptop seems pretty evil on a live image; doubt this is
actually debian-installer though.

I tested Reiserfs as suggested, but in my case, despite of fsck not showing
disk corruption, I got some others problems like after a few minutes the
read/write goes super-slow (from ~100MB/s to ~1MB/s as showed by hdparm -t
/dev/sda), then I got some "Bus error" when trying to launch some apps (
Same problem here. Once I select a folder in the 'open file' dialog, i
get 'Scribus crashes due to Signal #6'.
As suggested,
QT_ACCESSIBILITY=0 scribus
...works. Scribus then crashes SIGV11 later while loading the PDF file
I am trying to edit, but that is another bug.
