It seems that disabling ID3 tagging and Filename updating prevents file
duplication, but U1MS still freezes with tons of messages like this:

While this bug may not technically depend on Bug 136897, and may differ
in other ways, they are related in that they address a similar type of

I get the orange box a lot too, and the only way to make it go away
seems to be to grab a window by the top bar and drag it into the top of
the screen, then down.

I did a fresh install of Ubuntu 11.10 and installed some alternative desktop
environments.
The behavior with the Unity and the GNOME desktops is what Romano describes.
With MATE (the Linux Mint desktop) I get the old error "The specified location

If you get a dialogue box from Shotwell, but the images never make it as
far as your mail client, please check whether the package 'nautilus-
sendto' is installed (you can do this by typing

network icon shows previous state, I'm unable to reconnect the adapter
and as far as I know only rebooting helps. Will try removing and

I can confirm that vertical scrolling works nicely, horizontal does not
at all, and trackstick causes the cursor to go totally wild. My second
dmesg dump (with alps_dump_packets enabled) looks exactly like
previously reported.
