I'm not sure I see why this is difficult to exploit in a MITM attack or
why the timing is difficult.
It would be easy to build a simple tool to MITM people who execute
reseed(8) while connected to an open wireless network (e.g., at
Starbucks). The automated tool could wait for a call to reseed(8)

It will not create the log file in /var/log/ntp. But it will do it in
/var/log even with the above changes. When I run ntp configured to
I'm working on a new version based on Likewise Open 6.1. All versions
of Likewise Open have problems compiling with gcc 4.6 because of new
warnings. Rather than turn off the warnings, we are modifying the code.

One other issue (though it might be compiz rather than the kernel) is
that after ejecting and then re-docking I'm left with a screen that's
totally blank aside from a mouse cursor. The cursor moves with the
mouse and it actually changes shape from arrow to I-bar to finger as I
move around, suggest

think it was in some way due to bug 802271, and apparently the fix there
fixed your problem too.
