I just noticed something very interesting:
On the HP ProBook, there was no device file "/dev/cdrom", only the following
symlink:
/dev/cdrom1 -> sr0
After executing the following command:
sudo ln -s /dev/sr0 /dev/cdrom
the issue seems fixed, Kaffeine plays through the Audio CD as expected.

Confirmed, I encountered this with full installation on a real machine.
"Please remove installation media and close the tray" is hidden, also it
doesn't work when I hit enter to close the tray and should be rebooted

samba-common-bin is a dependency for samba so should be installed
automatically.
It would appear that the alternates have not been installed correctly
during the upgrade; please could you run the following commands and
attach output to this bug report:
apt-cache policy samba-common-bin
A workaround might be to add "eth0 manual" to /etc/network/interfaces.
This way network manager shows the interface as "unmanaged" in the UI,
and doesn't touch it.
Unrelated to live LTSP, the same "eth0 manual" approach should also work
for LTSP clients. E.g. fat clients can then have network mana
@gpaterno fix tested on these three kernels and it worked on all three of them:

* 2.6.39-020639rc4-generic and
* 3.0.0-0300rc2-generic

I keep closing the wrong window because of this bug, as the buttons are
misplaced and the window underneath get closed.
I think that's incredible that such an evident and nasty bug is still there

I'm not too familiar with the whitelisting magic used by ltsp-build-
client but my guess would be that we should instead use a blacklist.
We definitely want to prevent a lot of services from starting when they
don't make sense for LTSP but not prevent fat client services.
I also think
Tested hychen's ibus-chewing on oneiric, and confirmed his version fixed
the state machine (character duplication) issue.

I found this bug because I am observing the padding effects (although to
other multiples of 4K). To me this is filesystem corruption plain and
simple. The only conclusion is that ecryptfs in lucid (LTS) is buggy
and should not be used. This is somewhat disappointing as it was stable
on karmic.
This is not a medium bug: when you work on your computer you quickly run
into this situation (it happens to me at least once a day).
Usually, you don't even notice and you click on the close button,
closing the wrong window. You start thinking you missed the close button

can you try appending "break=top" to you pxelinux.cfg/default file?
The break should give you a shell in the initrd from which you should be
able to do some more debugging.
You may also want to remove quiet and splash from it to get more output.

I bought a new graphics adaptor to replace my old ATI one. The model I
chose is a Gainward GeForce 210 1024MB DDR2 HDMI.
Upon installing the new adaptor my Ubuntu 10.10 64bit system froze on
reboot. I tried boo
I'm not sure if any other distro still ships asoundconf, so for now I
just added an if statement to make sure it exists before calling it.
We can probably avoid shipping the file on Ubuntu but I'd like to avoid
creating unnecessary delta with Debian and upstream.
