to the end of /etc/motd with a cat append command if the /etc/motd.tail

to load the Apple-specific backlight driver.

I observed that unity and everything was working with the 173 driver
(not current) before updates aswell. Also, untill a couple weeks ago I
was able to use the nouveau driver, but this fails now aswell.
I'd like to refrain from updating the packages, but for me, it's like an
itch I can't scratch.

Sign into U1, open U1 client from the messaging menu. Splash screen
appears with what seems to be useful information, but I can't read it
because it immediately goes to the screen showing my account usage etc.
Very annoying.
