Screensavers are mainly a passive activity, yes. I happen to be in love
with the Eletric Sheep screensaver, if only because I find it
hypnotising.
Schools and other educational institutions around me are still using the
old CRT monitors. As such, I would argue agaisn't the removal of

I'd suggest to run "apt-get clean" in order to clean up the local
package cache and try to upgrade ag
Removed dev ppa (linux-alsa-driver-modules), removed the model from
alsa-base.conf. Rebooted and then installed the .deb patch. Rebooted
again.
Close: Speakers & Heaphones work properly. Internal mic still not
working, external mic works.

This is odd, it might be worth noting what the log of the indicator-
applet is saying. If inidcator-sound is installed then it should appear
in the menu regardless of whether there are sound devices available
(which by the looks of the trace above there are no devices available).
