Can you try a live CD of Lucid? There a lot of fixes were applied to the
pxlmono (PCL XL) driver.
Try also to choose the Brother HL-1030 as printer model, using the hl7x0
driver. This driver uses Brother's proprietary printer language. Perhaps
it works also with your printer.

I agree. Many universe packages like blender, me-tv, xine, even gimp-
plugin-registry depend on this, and having it in multiverse causes these
not possible to install if one chooses not to use multiverse (like I do,

I had this problem with kernels > 2.6.32-9-generic, and trying today
after a bunch of updates my older kernels failed as well. After finding
this bug report I removed the line in /etc/fstab and that fixed the
issue. I never entered that line manually, I'm not sure what added it.

Please file a separate bug report with the exact issue you're seeing;
the bug I filed was about cupsd trying to access /dev/tty. It didn't
prevent me from printing, it just caused weird logs.

I've got NFS-shares in fstab with sec=krb5i, but they are not mounted
properly on boot. I can see all the pending mount processes that are
hung, and rpc.gssd isn't running ('start gssd' manually works). I guess
mountall-net is what tries to mount them, but gssd isn't run so it

- Autologin behaves randomly but when I have to manually login it never

Happens for me using 32-bit w/nvidia on a Latitude D630. It's as if the Enter
key was remapped to a "system freeze" function. I can log in and do many tasks
using the mouse to click through confirmation dialogs, but as soon as I hit the
Enter key, be it at the terminal or to press a highlighte

Problem upditing grub!!
Hi,
I have kubuntu 9.10. This morning I update the Grub v.1.98 experimental
and now when I reboot and I can't boot with ubuntu or windows xp.
In ubuntu gives me : "Error:file not found" and with XP gives me "Error:
invalid file name".
Pleaseee any help!?

Sometimes when I start the pc, Plymouth will display 3 Ubuntu logos
across the top of the screen instead of the usual 1. The problem is

I'm using Karmic now and it doesn't drain the battery overnight any
more. Perhaps there is still some drain but it isn't noticeable after
overnight hibernation.
