I am also experiencing this problem.
The volume levels are not properly restored on boot, though they are
restored if I run alsactl restore, even though the error message is
displayed.

I found out that ldap.conf was sitting in the wrong place
(/etc/ldap.conf instead of /etc/ldap/ldap.conf). I'm not sure how it
worked before, but moving it to the right place solved the problem.

Mac_v, I'm not speaking about netbooks but about laptops.
A 12" mobile computer has a DVD writer and thus is a laptop but not a
netbook.

I tried using 0.8 version of network manager from PPA specified in the url
above.
Following are my findings:
1. upon host m/c reboot, ifconfig does not picksup other eth[x] interfaces
manually we need to start using ifconfig or nm-applet
2. while uninstalling:
