It can't be /entirely/ the
Lite-On DH-20A4P is not an USB drive, it is an ATAPI drive. Apparently you are
using it in an extra USB enclosure or with an USB adapter. Which one?
Check for firmware updates not only for the Lite-On ATAPI drive but also for
the USB--IDE/ATAPI bridge.

This is partly fixed in drm-next now: X resolution is right, but X
refresh is still different from the one set by the kernel, leading to
slow X <-> VT switch.

attached is the PrintScreen after formatting a USB mem stick to another desktop
PC (same Ubuntu/nautilus versions).
Two windows of File Browser appeared for the same USB mem (one partition,
default 'fat').
