There are a lot of people seeking help, because they followed some old "how
to" and their network interfaces became unmanaged.
A warning at the top of /etc/network/interfaces could help this situation.
Example of such a "how to":
The size difference is actually a red herring, and nothing to do with
this bug. GParted shows sizes in binary units (note the "i" in "GiB"
after the number) - a GiB is 1024 * 1024 * 1024 bytes. The installer's
partitioner, partman, shows sizes in decimal units (GB) - a GB here is
1000 * 1000 * 1000

I'd just like to add that (as the original bug reporter) I agree with
Trent entirely. I can setup accounts (longer than 32 characters) that
work just fine with PAM (and etc...) yet vsftpd fails to authenticate
with them.

It's great to seee action taking place about this. Martin, your
upstream bug-report only mentions 1 type of modem but i think this is a
more widespread problem affecting a lot of different usb wireless
dongles and other stuff too? Anyway, it's good to see the report out

Yes the bandwith of torrent is limited, I tryed with other browsers and the
problem do not occours.
Now i've tryed to run Firefox 3.5 (not yet installed) from the download
folder and the problem is not occurring.
