I had the same exact bug on a partial upgrade to jaunty from intrepid. Sound
was crashing when I had it on auto or alsa.
After upgrading the following packages, I got sound back in pidgin and it
stopped crashing on IM receive:

I've been having similar problems for quite some time
(http://oss.sgi.com/archives/xfs/2009-03/msg00062.html). Lockups affecting
random parts of the system. Most of the time, it wouldn't even reboot and I had
to pull the plug. I'm running intrepid 2.6.27-11-server x86_64 on an Intel

Whenever you insert a thum-drive or usb drive, nautilus launches in
kubuntu jaunty.
This can be switched off unchecking the nautilus option: Browse media
when inserted.

I've created a VPN connection in the KDE network manager plasmoid that
uses "Connection Type" set to "X.509 With password". When it tries to
connect, it fails with "VPN connection 'Maxwell' (IP Config Get) timeout
exceeded." and "ERROR: could not read Private Key

Please try to boot the live CD and see if that works so we can see if
this is a config issue on your box. I've got a Radeon 9600 with RV350

I did a fresh install of Jaunty on my machine, with what I know for a
fact was an absolutely up-to-date version of FF, and it worked perfectly
until I copied and pasted my old .mozilla folder back into my Home
folder. At that point it once again failed to "x" out as expected. I
deleted my .mozilla

desktop effects at all: results in screen corruption as described in

Well, you could disable chat in the gmail tab and use pidgin as gmail
chat client. I find it much better anyway because it's more
configurable. Just go to "Applications" "Internet" "Pidgin" and set it
up as Gmail chat client, it's very easy to do, I think.

I'm also having this bug now, after Jaunty was out of beta. I think until last
week, it was working fine (Jaunty beta) with integral signs drawn
appropriately, and also greek letters if the option is enabled. But now, all I
get is a groff like output. One more thing to note here is that I'm gett

Up until two days ago or so (say 29 April) I was able to use the google
app engine sdk running localy to test the little app I am trying to
write.
Then all of a sudden I start getting the following errors on the

a new bug for the hibernation issue. That sounds like it may be a
kernel bug.

Same problem here. :( But I did't upgrade from Intrepid to Jaunty. I
directly install from CD (Jaunty).

Just a quick comment if I may...
Reading the many discussions/forums etc. concerning ext4, I believe one
of the MAIN reasons that folk are looking to get a defrag tool running
is to 'refresh' files on their disk having moved from ext3 to ext4,
rather than worrying about the (minimal) benefits of a
lspci | grep VGA

I get the same problem on my HP Compaq nx8420 laptop with Radeon
Mobility X1600 and open source ati driver,
The screen backlight is off on resume, so I ctrl-alt-f7 to return to
desktop and then killall vbetool to stop 100% cpu usage, which returns
me to a blank screen, so I ctrl-alt-f7 and I'm bac
