I have the same problem on Hardy with either pulseaudio or alsa selected
as the audio output module.
On trying to test the sound system whilst VLC is playing, I get:

I just moved S07resolvconf in S39resolvconf in /etc/rc.S and it works (at least
at boot).

The designer-qt4 doesn't return any terminal screen messages and/or warnings by

Kde 4 on this pc was working but now kde 4.1.2 at session startup don't go

gconftool-2 -s /apps/gnome-session/options/show_splash_screen --type=bool true
But I don't know if this is normal (that I have to enable it) and the
black screen I get before my Desktop load continues to show (even if I
now think this is normal)

existing file /.suspend on the system. I removed this file, and I'm
back to the old behavior (suspend working modulo the USB bug).
