I compile the ati binary driver, after i try to install the ati driver
of ubuntu repositories, then the system give that error.

my ipod was infact plugged in. i hadn't noticed it previously. when i
unplugged it, mountconfig aka Disk & File systems module, came up
without a hitch.
kudos! job well done on this notorious bug. while this fix may not

Suspend/hibernate is still broken with 7.12 for me on my Mobility Radeon
9600 (IBM T42 Thinkpad): Video flickers and the screen goes black, but
neither the screen nor the laptop shuts off, and i can't resume.
On the bright side, my glxgears framerate has jumped from ~1900 fps to
~2600 fps.

I have the same problem, but I am running Ubuntu on a brand new stock laptop.
Intel Core Duo. Problems started occuring when I enabled suspend/resume. I can
never resume without crashing the OS. On resume, the screen blinks a few times,

I am having the exact same problem. I have two 3114 cards and two 3124
cards, three WD 1T drives and a seagate 250 gig drive. I tried the above
instructions to add the Hardy repositories and install the newer kernel
image and get this:
