Hello John, I see this with firefox 3 too, either downloaded from
ubuntu or the mozilla website.
running it with MOZ_DISABLE_PANGO=1 does NOT fix the problem, just a

I can confirm this. I believe its a compiz problem because its started
happening to me when installing compiz-fusion on feisty. Still
happening after a Gutsy upgrade. Have to do a "killall gnome-panel"
everytime i restart my computer...

Hi all,
I have *exactly* the same problem, on my machine.
It's a Pentium 4 2.8 on a Asus P4P800, with a GeForce 7600 GS, 2Gb of RAM, one
SATA Drive and one PATA drive.
It has two more OSes installed, i do the manual configuration, configure it to
format one partition, and then it hangs on the "
sometimes the freeze is only temporary, i can ssh in (or stay ssh'ed
in). if i run top the xorg is at 100%. i get the Xid errors in my dmesg.

You should not use gnome-compiz-manager. Use compizconfig-settings-
manager.
