The problem appears in Dapper's (2.6.15) kernel, in Egdy's and
Feisty's kernel (2.6.17, and 2.6.20) that problem was fixed but the
fix opened a new problem, the modem now begins dialing fine but gets
stuck at the expecting (OK) step.

In Gutsy, hwclock is started at S11, which in Ubuntu is after S10udev
and before S20checkroot.sh, so this should be fine now. Please reopen if
you can reproduce with Gutsy.

above error is caused by the dynamic linking error with the new gtkmm library.

Can confirm this (or something very similar) with a couple of other
recent Debian distributions as well as Ubuntu 7.04 (64studio, musix).
In my case I have hda, hdb and sda. The bios is configured to boot from
sda. Grub installs correctly, except that for some reason groot is set
to (hd2,0) in men
A2ps is in universe, so this is not possible (iirc, a main package can't
depend on/recommends a universe one).
