I have a separate /usr partition and confirm the comment by Szabolcs
above.
After having scoured the forums for the past two days, I finally
stumbled upon the simple solution he gives above. The default locations
written into /etc/fstab seem to generally follow the partition structure
of the hard
I went into System | Administration | Printing, which uses gnome-cups-
manager and deleted my printers. I then edited /etc/papersize. That
file had a single line A4, which I changed to Letter.
I reinstalled my printer using the gnome-cups-manager. My printer is

This is intractable. _Some_ hardware will experience either "too quiet"
or "too loud" by default. There is _nothing_ that we can do save 1)
simply not restore state (volume) on boot and 2) rely on the graphical
environment's (KMix|mixer_applet2|xfce4-mixer) to restore state.

Same problem with Dell Precision 380. I have an old, expensive
ergonomic keyboard that uses PS/2. The system's own setup menus and
GRUB loader have no problem seeing this keyboard, but as soon as Feisty

Note: this problem is fixed upstream, and the fix is integrated on the
new scim release (scim 0.4.7). I report the bug here so Ubuntu do
consider either updating the scim package for Gutsy release, or backport
the fix (this is just a few line diff).

I think this is not a bug, but a support issue. Besides, this "fix" is
not standards-compliant.
1. You must use a2enmod to enable the proxy module. It will not work by
"enabling" just the directive.
2. Any Directory commands should all be in a stanza for the particular site,
which should be con
the newest java in gutsy fixes this issue, I have it backported to
mozilla-testing repo due to the firefox update in that repo and it has
been confirmed to fix the issue. I will see if i cant get an ok on a fix
maybe backport update1 when we get it in gutsy.
