I disagree, this bug renders Ubuntu/Gnome useless in situations when
working with other workstations in a domain.
Having a central file server for user and group data is very common,
like pam-mounting a users home when logging in or just using a common

I encountered the same problem with my touchpad.
The patch seems to fix the problem: my touchpad is recognized.
On the over hand, this patch totally crashes the graphics interface using
Beryl, but no bug with Metacity.

Canon LiDE 30 is recognized by XSane, but the preview function produces only a

Well, this shouldn't be considered a bug, apparently it is just that the
gnome-terminal is programmed to use Alt instead of Meta which I think is
standard for the keybindings of Readline.

Additional issues:
1. After "sudo make install" various Printer Manager dialog box tabs are
missing or incomplete, and options such as Remove Printer are
unavailable.
2. Trying to repair using "sudo apt-get --reinstall install gnome-cups-
manager" doesn't fix (1)

Thanks for all the testing! Yes, that's very good news, then the fix is
inside one of these four patches. It's probably not the "eltorito"
patch, and from quickly looking at the others (ezd, nice-magic,
mem_lower) I would guess the last. Here are Feisty stage files built
with the grub-0.95-mem_lowe
I'm going to mark this confirmed for the time being. It seems plausible
that it could be a broken prerm/postrm somewhere.
