i tried again (having been assured that it works with 6.10 by
http://ubuntu.blog.de/) and this time the 'sudo screen' appeared and
sbackup started. in the 'destination' tab the dialog for the selection
of 'custom local backup directory' is somewhat unusual (/media/xx
instead of /dev/hdaxx) but work

Hi,
I tested the latest release for working with kernels > 2.6.18...it's working
perfectly for me.
I know your feelings very well, but there is a chance, when we can get this
driver as default in our kernels, that we get a stable release in the near
future.
