I was modifying my xorg.conf file to use my Dell Inspiron 630m S-Video
port and got it working but ever since my gnome-panel starts in the
center of the screen until I expand then unexpand it.

I believe many of the issues mentioned here are either bug #60288
(crashes with DRI) or bug #67487 (Ati AGP speed) for which there are
some workarounds or test packages. Can you please take a look on those?

Its because the Ubuntu Package Maintainers seem to not know that this
game is only playable on the official server if you use the stable or
the current development version..
The development version changes way too often for a half-year-released
distribution - so they have to stick to the official
