I think I now know what the exact problem is: the device's icon disappears
immediately after the user clicks "Safely remove", leading one to believe

1. Save some money and buy a Lenovo ThinkPad Z61m 9453-A11 (which includes an
Intel 802.11abg wireless card).
The problem will probably occur on other laptops with the same card, though.

It was a gift from my wife, after my previous keyboard broke.
Anyway, Ubuntu should work with this hardw

VLC can read this file.
This file is not recognized as an icon in Gnome browser (I don't have the
outline) like the other files (.avi).
