I did some poking into this tonight, and it looks like this started
happening in 0.0.24 when the gconf entries for max_port and min_port
were added. Previously there were just command line options that were
specified as defaulting to 6881-6889 (gnome-btdownload-0.0.22/man/gnome-

I have updated the system today and now CDs are unmounted properly (I
don't get that error any more).

That's not all...
The workaround works.
But I don''t think the problem is related to udev. I installed a small
testscript that runs during boot before udev starts. It sets permissions
of /dev/null first to 0777, than loops in the background for while
noting the /dev/null permissions and a list of
Sub'd the art team to see if they can help. I hope it's okay and I'm not
spamming them too much.

emulation layer, right?

We are running VMWare browser appliances upgraded to Ubuntu Edgy. After
last upgrade to metacity 1:2.14.5-0ubuntu1 desktop freezes after a few
minutes. Using Alt+F2 and killall metacity "resolves" the problem
temporarily, but in next few minutes
changed package from ubuntu to xubuntu-meta.
