Deskbar plugins can have a "More..." button in the plugins list. The
beagle-live plugin already detects if beagled is running, and allows the
user to start it via a dialog popping up when "More..." is clicked.

I am on Dapper, and have tried changing the first of my device sections
to include the changes suggested by Bin Trihn - but since I have
experienced two system freezes.

Some annoying thing, when this bug occurs, somehow gconf settings are lost...
disabling usplash then helps the box stopping / rebooting and gconf settings to

This doesn't look like a bug in apt. It looks more like apt-setup is creating
a bogus proxy entry, as it was noticed upstream. There it was also reassigned
to apt-setup.
I can confirm that I was also bitten by this bug during installing Dapper

Forcing focus on the dialog is not a good idea since other gnome
programs specifically try to avoid focus stealing (which is very
annoying at times). So I implemented b), making the window appear in the
task bar.

We have the machine locked again with the same problem after new kernel update
linux-image-2.6.15-27-amd64-generic (2.6.15-27.48).
Is there anybody who cares about ubuntu users and about perception of
stability and reliabilty of Ubuntu as a distribution ?!?

Yes I tried to use both kaffeine and xine! I will try to reinstall
edgy from the knot3 cd and see if it works

The same here an my desktop machine, using ati rage 128 chip. If I'm
setting up the vesafb-framebuffer for 1024x768 resolution, it works
well, but the console then is black and therefore unusable.

This is indeed a bug in apt-setup, but apt still should be able to deal
with a bad proxy entry. My lastest (edgy) upload should have fixed the
issue.

I can confirm this. The annoying thing was, that it didn't stop
restarting and crashing and bug-buddying until i logged in and out.
After removing a webcal source (via gconf-editor) everything is fine.
This workaround was mentioned in bug #58940. Same bug?
