On both i386 and 64 version of Knot3 I can boot only intermittently.
I get 2 kinds of errors:
The first simply says grub- and stops there right after power up and bios.

I used glxgears -printfps to determine the fps. I noticed that TUX and
googleearth are slow compared to dapper. As I understand it, I cannot
turn off composite.

I'm seeing the same basic problem on my IBM Thinkpad T40 running
2.6.15-27-686 #1 SMP PREEMPT Sat Sep 16 02:13:27 UTC 2006 i686
GNU/Linux.
If the IDE device (CF card) is inserted at boot, the device works ok. If
ejected and reinserted, this Oops occurs:

Found problem:
first user created is not added to fuse group by default.
I tried to test with the first user. After I added him to the fuse group
everything was fine. Also added second, non-administrative user, added
her to fuse group, everything was fine.
However, there is no option to umount/e
I am booting from a Dapper /boot/grub/menu.lst and am updating
the system using chroot and aptitude on the mounted Edgy partition (/test).
Could this be the problem?
BTW the Edgy knot 2 livecd also failed to boot apparently for the same
reason.

I just dist-upgraded my Dapper today, and found out that flashplugin-
nonfree didn't set itself up correctly. Turns out that it borked during
postinst, since it was invoking the `update-rc.d' tool incorrectly,
trying to use a nonexistent `multiuser' runlevel group.

I can confirm. Uninstall mplayer. Update sources then reinstall.
Change sources back to edgy and lock version. Get your mplayer back for
now, and wait for the fix.
I know I can't wait that long without mplayer.

Problem started when upgrading flashplugin-nonfree using the update manager,
on an up-to-date system.

I have this exact same problem. I have definitively narrowed it down to
powernowd: I have configured it to not start in the regular bootup
sequence, but when issuing a direct
/etc/init.d/powernowd start
it crashes the box.
Information of use:
# uname -a
Linux ian 2.6.15-25-amd64-generic #1 SMP P
