I had also pre-partitioned and formatted to XFS, using gparted live cd
(not the one integrated in the ubuntu install disc). However, I did

do you still have that issue? could you try to "strace -p $(pidof
nautilus)" and note what it's doing when that happens? What the
backtrace get with "thread apply all bt", nautilus usually list several
threads and you have only one to your comment

We now have another example of why this is needed, bug #55539 is an SD
card that is exposed through the MMC subsystem but needs a different set
of drivers (tifm_*)
Without MODALIAS, we can't do this

Impact: translations in dapper-backports packages are currently
stripped off. However, the dapper langpacks cover dapper and
dapper-updates, not -backports, thus you currently get wrong
translations.

I agree, deleting the files directly while warning the user is by far
the best compromise, just like it is done on remote locations. It
removes all hidden stuff, is fast (no file transfer), clear (user can
just hit Cancel if he/she made a mistake).

When using the "Get New Stuff" download dialog in Superkaramba, Amarok's Script
Manager's "Get New Scripts", and KDesktop's "Get New Wallpapers" I am unable to

Well, that was on dapper. I haven't tried this on edgy yet, but I guess it
could get upstream fix in the new gnome release.

This is still occurring for me, although according to the bug report I
first saw it under (https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/gtk-qt-
engine/+bug/47760) it has now been fixed. As far as I can tell, all my
packages are up to date. I'm running dapper with gtk2-engines-gtk-qt
version 0.60-1.
