I can make d-i do this, but I'm a little uncomfortable with having d-i
create files on the target system not owned by any package (we've been
trying to get away from this). Would upstart be able to own
/etc/event.d/ttyS* - that is, remove any such files on purge?
Also, perhaps upstart could ship a
FYI serial output should be set to something like:
T0:23:respawn:/sbin/getty -L ttyS0 9600 vt102
as it appears in inittab. Using the standard getty spawn creates other
problems.

I tried to play with Inotify, but I was only able to find the
/usr/include/linux/inotify.h file. This file does not contain the system
calls which you can find at

I assume that you get the same behaviour for other commands as well?
(like 'sudo true', which does nothing, but is a nice way of checking for
the password). Does it ask for a password again after you did 'sudo -k'?

Please sync freepats 20060219-1 (universe) from Debian Sid (main). There
are no Ubuntu changes, and the package builds fine in a clean Edgy
pbuilder. Changelog entries follow:

I can confirm that the bug is still there for Knot3-i386.
Sebastian, you don't need to actually burn the ISO on a CD, you can
(what I just did) just run it in a virtual machine like VMware for
example.
I am changing the bug title too, since it obviously doens't apply to
Knot1 only anymore...

I would like to add my support to this proposal, though it may be more
appropriate to put forward as a design specification for Edgy +1 rather
than a bug for Edgy.

I'd just like to add a comment here.
I've experienced the same, and recompiling the source provided above and
replacing the rt61.ko with the generated one has solved the problem, but
there's one thing I'm unable to understand:
Booting Dapper in "Live CD mode" (without installing) WORKS PERFECTLY,

We usually keep the bug which has the better description, or extra informations
or already been forwarded upstream rather than the older one. In that case the
other bug was not really better described, marking it as duplicate of that one
is fine.
Filling the bug to file-roller is fine, I was ju
libdbus-1-2 is causing vmware to not start since it is loading a mix of an old
libdbus and the newer libdbus. What needs to be fixed is the 3 packages listed
above.
