It may not be a solution, but I've found that using the kernel parameter
"noacpi" prevents this problem, though my installation stopped within

just tested it with UBUNTU BREEZY LIVE CD and UBUNTU DAPPER LIVE CD just
to be sure I didnt change something with my DAPPER INSTALL but exactly

Just an additional note that this annoyance still exists on Edgy.
Minimum pixel size of the panel is apparently 24 with the clock applet
running using the 'digital' option.
If you choose analog then there is no problem, panel will reduce to its

I installed upstart and upstart-compat-sysvinit and did the reboot -f as
instructed on the -devel mailing list. It booted OK. Only problem: I
cannot reboot. Every time I choose to reboot (reboot or shutdown -r
now)my system actually halts. "shutdown -h now" works, unsurprising
This patch gives a DefaultException to the errback calls so that errback
does not complain that there is no exception at all.

In Edgy, apt-get freezes when requesting apt-proxy to download new
files. I believe that this is because of new version of python-twisted.

When usplash is purged from system, symlinks in /etc/rcX.d/ are not
removed. postinst scripts calls update-rc.d to install those symlinks,
postrm, however, fails to call 'update-rc.d usplash remove' to remove
them.
Problem was identified on Dapper with usplash 0.2-4, current
Unfortunately, some unwanted comments made it to the previous patch so
here is the correct one.

Got any links to the patches that DSL provided? If the current dillo
developers don't like the patch there must be a reason...probably worth
providing a link to that if you have it as well.
Sounds like we might need a fork - the current dillo available in the
repo's for edgy hasn't had a new vers
