The bug is that the driver was changed from prism54 to islsm_pci, which
is quite broken. I was able to fix this by blacklisting the islsm_pci
driver and adding my card's pci-id back to the prism54 driver. See bug
38278 for the specifics.

Ubuntu *has* to assume those directories exist (as noted above).
It appears that you failed to set up your very custom installation
correctly, you would have needed to make /var/run and /var/lock
underneath /var. The installers all take care of this, and it's noted

Similar problem here using ati M6 card on a thinkpad x30.
System locks up totally after 10-40 minutes of use, no visible errors,
only started when I upgraded to dapper-release (earlier releases of
dapper were fine).

I have my browser set not to allow cookies. This means that I often have
to add the site that I am on to the list of exceptions in order to make
the site work properly.

I have had issues with Synaptic and proxy support in the past, but it
works fine in 6.06. Make sure that you've got it configure properly. And
yes, you will need to run that proxy command each time you using apt-
get/aptitude through the command line, unfortunately.
Now that this part is resolved,
I haven't seen any filter triggering automatically on incoming mail. I
have five filters in place for my incoming mail. None of them seem to
trigger.
When I run them manually after having received e-mail, all of them seem
to work as expected.

Another thing I've noticed about this is that once I get the laptop to
boot successfully, I can then restart ubuntu (without turning off the
machine) as many times as I want and it will always boot successfully.
Once the laptop gets shutdown, the problem with booting returns.

the "DeviceURI file:///dev/usblp0" solution doesn't work for me!
I've successfully done the installation under Breezy, through some

On a asus a6jm laptop the ethernet card is not detected by network-manager. The
card works when configured in /etc/network/interfaces. After commenting all
interfaces (except "lo") wireless works but the ethernet card is not detected.
