That's correct; the bug has been fixed upstream, but I didn't have the time
to track down which specific revision fixed it so that we can ask somebody
from the Ubuntu Kernel Team to cherry pick it, so I guess we'll have to wait
because reverting the commit which introduced this bug may cause suspen
I've reported it on the linux-acpi mailing list [1] and to the patch's
author, but nobody replied so far.

In my case (a T60) just a shutdown is enough. Restarting doesn't help,
though.

That's right. I already identified the merge in which the regression was
introduced (it's a merge from linux-acpi-2.6 between 2.6.20-rc1 and
2.6.20-rc2). I have only a few commits left to test before I can pinpoint the
right culprit.
