Next test is on a bootable pen drive created from this U 9.10 live disk.
Media is a Sandisk 8Gig.
After unsucessful attemp to fomat using the USB creator I wnet to Gparted and
deleted the partition and created a new ext2 primary.
Then trying USB creator a "volume needs to be formatted" message app

I will try using the Freshly installed Ubuntu 9.10 with all updates ( as of
morning 21Jan10) installed as dual boot on the internal HD.
After booting Ubuntu I had to go up to the toobar icon and drop down the menue
for connecting to the wireles

How it works here is not quite what you are saying. The wireless connecion is
auto detectedand then the connecion is established when I select connect. It's
only when I open the web browser in windows my homepage seeting is somhow
ignored and insead the login page for Panera coffee shop pops up
