It still doesn't change the face it uninstall gnome and gnome desktop
environment. My concern is NOT the ubuntu-desktop file.

It's not the GNOME from the distribution CD, I did install it manually after
uninstalling EVOLUTION caused it to be uninstalled. when I tried the
uninstalls I tried them first in Synaptic Package Manager then in
terminal...
I commanded:
sudo apt-get remove (program name here.)
