I installed the python-launchpadlib package and authorized "Change
Non-Private", but it isn't happy with that.

Bug title: Movie Player crashes the system
Collecting apport information for source package xorg.
Usually. I always have to restart the computer. Once the screen didn't go
black or blank. Instead the window manager seemed to get confused and
clicking on items with the mouse had no effect, I could still change
workspaces, but I couldn't change tabs in the browser.

It was working just fine until about 6:40 PM today when I was dragging on
the vertical slidebar of Firefox and bingo, I lost the video again. I was
beginning to think that the problem was solved. That was something that
caused it before. I haven't had a problem with the Sudoku game which had on
OK, I removed the driver and rebooted. So far all I've noticed is that I
only have 2 workspaces now whereas I used to have 4. I tried resetting it
back to 4, but it didn't work as advertised. I wasn't clear on what the
message wanted me to do.

Not yet. I'm considering an upgrade.

It probably didn't crash. I'm having a video problem of some sorts where
the screen goes blank or it gets corrupted in some way where mouse clicks on
buttons etc. seem to have no effect. I suspect that the system may still be
running since there's nothing in the system log to indicate foul play u
David,
I'm currently running version 9.04 of Ubuntu. The issue only occurs
sometimes. The symptoms vary. Usually the screen is cleared of all useful
information. The last occurrence was different from all previous. The

Fabio,
I've attached all but the last one, Xorg.1.log which doesn't exist on my
system.
Wouldn't the previous versions of these log files be more likely to contain
the relevant

Thanks for the package hint.
I'm pretty sure now that this bug is somewhere other than Movie Player. I
believe that the real bug is in X-Windows, the video driver, or my systems
video controller. I don't know how to narrow it down. Some applications

I don't know if it's reproducible in the Lucid packages or not.

It's possible that the crash was caused by a problem that I was having on a
non-boot hard drive. It just happened to crash when I was using movie
player.
Thanks for the reply and the information.
