Thank you, it seems to work when I set the res to 1280 X 1024 but it
doesn't hold it when I reboot even though I hit the and buttons.
Its only good in the session I'm in when I set the res.

1) the sudo command did not work - see screenshot attached
2) I have the nvidia drivers uninstalled now so the screen looks ok
3) should I re-install the nvidia drivers then
try the ammended command again ?
4) by log file did you mean the .conf file I just sent to you?

My resulution is 1280 X 1024 in windows and it displays all fine...

Sorry. I forgot to mention in the previous msg. that even if I were
to center the image on the monitor that some of the icons on the left are
chopped off and are not totally displayed.

I'll try to center it, but its dual boot and I've had other dual boot windows
and linux systems in the past and never had to adjust the monitor each time I
boot
to windows or linux. Even if I can center it, its still not displaying to the
full
width possible on my monitor(cornerstone
No I didn't change any thing on the monitor and its ok when running win xp
but not wide enough and off center when in xubuntu...
