Hi Bobby, Yes; I noticed the multiple load bars as well first time
around...of course, the next time I rebooted, I was back to the scenario of
a blank screen.
So removing/installing usplash didn't seem to work (and neither did
v86d)

Not using Compiz, so can not comment if that is the problem---will test the
new usplash this evening (about 5/6 hrs from now)
