What has gotten really obnoxious in the latest revisions of Kbuntu is that the HARDWARE MODIFICATIONS panel in the main menu is gone. I used to be able to force the proper display driver and monitor ( yes, it gave you a warning ) and reboot X/the system. That is an example of  forcing something th
