with turning off the "detect outputs" and then changing the output to 1680x1050
solved the problem for me !!
do not know what the detect output off will do later on
however, I struggle with the intel

This workaround would require me to tweak things every time I attach or
detach an external screen to my laptop. That's quite inconvenient, so
I'm hoping a real fix will be found.
